Instructional Technology Certificate

Program Overview

This certificate program is intended for students not seeking a masters’ degree but who wish to advance their knowledge of instructional design techniques in various settings coupled with developing skills in the creation of  educational digital media products..  Students with this certificate typically work in educational or training divisions in businesses, healthcare, or in district K12 offices This program is composed of 18 hours of focused courses that also qualify certificate holders to potentially teach instructional technology courses at the undergraduate level.

The post-baccalaureate certificate program in Instructional Technology is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become entry-level instructional designers and instructional technologists in a variety of learning settings (i.e., PK-12, higher education, museums and libraries, and other training environments).

Admission Requirements

  1. Submission of a FGCU Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Application to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  2. A grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours attempted accruing to the undergraduate degree.
  3. Graduation from a baccalaureate level program or a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university documented by official transcripts.
  4. International applicants from countries where English is not the official language, are required to submit official English proficiency test scores:  TOEFL exam (minimum score of 550 paper-based, or 79 internet-based) or IELTS exam (minimum score of 6.5).

Additional Graduation Requirements

  • Students must satisfactorily complete the minimum number of credit hours specified by the certificate program.
  • A grade of B or higher must be earned in all College of Education graduate courses used as prerequisites and each core course.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all coursework in the program.
