Little Eagles Learning Center

The Little Eagles Learning Center (LELC) is an Educational Research Center for Child Development (ERCCD) on campus at Florida Gulf Coast University. The LELC is an National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited childcare center for the children of students and employees who attend classes and work at FGCU.

The center nutures and cares for young children in a safe and life-long learning environment. Affiliated with the College of Education the Center offers high quality early care and education to 58 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years.

We regard each child as unique. Support is given to individual abilities, learning styles, and cultural values. We foster close partnerships with the parents of children enrolled in the program in an effort to provide a unified harmonious approach to child rearing and education. We encourage families to visit at anytime as we have an open door policy for visits.

The staff communicates with families daily, schedule conferences at least twice a year, and encourage parents to visit during the day, volunteer, or share a special interest with the children in their child’ group. Each classroom is equipped with a phone for parents to communicate directly with the teachers when necessary.

The enrollment policy of the Little Eagles Learning Center requires priority to be given to students who are enrolled full-time at FGCU. FGCU employees have the next enrollment priority with siblings having the same priority. The center maintains a substantial waitlist thus making enrollment for the general community a final status. Families are encouraged to submit a waitlist application as soon as possible as rooms fill quickly. Families are contacted in advance when slots open, they may choose to take the slot or continue on the waitlist for a latter enrollment date.
