Meet Your Camp Supervisor!
EduCamp is more than just a regular overnight camp. The faculty, staff, student workers, and campers are all one big family. Even though we host EduCamp each year for high school students, we all leave the camp with something; from a renewed passion for education to confirmation that our campers are pursuing the right career for them. I’m looking forward to what EduCamp 2024 has in store!”
Preparing to Attend EDUCamp
Here's what you need to know:
- EDUCamp is an immersive and engaging experience for students who wish to know more about our teacher preparation programs, while participating in education-based activities that showcase the fundamentals of teaching.
- FGCU College of Education is accepting scholarship applications through Friday, April 5th, 2024.
- Scholarships to attend camp are awarded to students going into 10th - 12th grades in Fall 2024. The College of Education may also award a few scholarships to returning EDUCampers and graduating seniors.
- EDUCamp is a four-day-long, overnight camp. Students stay on campus in the freshman dorms located in South Village
- During their time at FGCU, students benefit from support and guidance provided by our College of Education faculty, staff, and FGCU students. Additionally, they are under the supervision of the Camp Supervisor, faculty, and staff.
- In addition to visiting our on-campus dining hall a few times throughout the week, EDUCampers are provided fully catered meals from all their favorite eateries! We are sure to accomodate all dietary restrictions and allergies noted in the application.
- Examples of catered meals: Chick-Fil-A, pizza, boxed lunches, bar-b-que, Sovi Dining and more!
- Snacks will never be in short supply, however students may choose to bring additional, non-perishable snacks to camp.
- Recreational activities include visiting the FGCU waterfront and/or aquatics center,* an exploratory wet walk through the Florida mangroves, game night and more.
- Academic activities include working with our faculty to develop education-centric curriculum, just like our future teachers! EDUCampers will have the opportunity to work directly with children in our Little Eagles Learning Center.
