Literacy Festival

Literacy Festival

The Florida Gulf Coast University College of Education Annual Literacy Festival is the only university-sponsored literacy festival in the state of Florida. Every year it connects children's and young adult authors and illustrators with over 2000 students from regional Title I schools. The College of Education purchases participating authors’ books and distributes them regionally before the event. Every student receives a book! College of Education teacher candidates visit classrooms to study the participating authors and integrate their books into the curriculum across their disciplines. The day of the FGCU COE Literacy Festival features author book signings, interactive workshops with authors, digital literacy, and STREAM activities.
