Students from FGCU’s Supply Chain Management classes visited Florida Freezer, a family owned cold storage and logistics facility based in North Fort Myers Florida on Tuesday February 15, 2022. On this visit, students were able to tour the inside of the facility, while learning more about the intricacies of the cold storage market. Robert Fay, the owner of Florida Freezer, showed the two main sides of his business, the storage facility, and the rail operations, Florida Rail. Fay and Florida Freezer are also the owner of the Murder Mystery Dinner Train that runs here in Southwest Florida, showing the diversity within his business operations.

Students were able to see inside some different train cars and storage units to see how critical the organization is when packing these different areas. Within each area that Fay brought the students too, he would explain the history and reasoning behind it, while also stating what kind of product that they were storing within the area. We thank Mr. Robert Fay for letting Supply Chain Management students tour his facility and operations, taking tours such as these are critical to understanding the educational concepts that are being learned within the classroom.

The Supply Chain Management Club works to help students create a network of industry professionals and provide supplemental education to students who are interested in the industry outside of the classroom. The club is open to every major, and all supply chain management majors and minors are highly recommended to join.
