Embedded Courses

Embedding Honors Curriculum in Standard Classes Enhances opportunities for Our Students and Faculty

Honors students within a course open to all students can gain Honors credit by working on a project, decided by the faculty, with their fellow Honors classmates. An Embedded Course allows faculty to expand their teaching approach while Honors students expand their leadership, teamwork and scholarly skills.

Honors Embedded course offerings change every semester. Honors Embedded courses are only offered in upper division courses. Each semester's offerings will be emailed out to every Honors student's EagleEmail address before priority-registration or as they become available. Exploratory Advising will designate Honors Embedded Courses on Honors students transcripts.

To earn Honors credit through an Honors Embedded Course, students must: 1) complete the Honors Embedded activities to the satisfaction of the course instructor, and 2) earn a letter grade of at least a “B” for the course.

If you have any questions about developing an Honors Embedded Course, please feel free to contact an Honors Executive Board member or an Honors Faculty Fellow in an aligned academic discipline to your own. They are happy to discuss best practices and pedagogy related to Honors Embedded Courses.
