UAS Commitment to Social Justice

University Advising Services at Florida Gulf Coast University is committed to advocating for social justice for our Students, Advisors, Staff, and Leadership. We embrace full and equitable participation of all: gender identity, sexual orientation, race, size, age cohort, ability/disability, faith, religion, ethnicity, gender expression, by building an inclusive community where everyone has equitable access to opportunities, resources, support, and guidance.

WCE Advising Mission Statement

WCE Advising aspires to help students find their purpose and achieve their potential. We do this by empowering and collaborating with students to make informed decisions by educating them on policies, procedures, and options. Our practices allow students to identify and cultivate their long-term educational and career development and engagement with the engineering profession.

Student Expectations

Students are expected to take primary responsibility to meet with their academic advisor on a regular basis to insure completion of all requirements for graduation.  The engineering degree programs help prepare students to be successful when taking the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, the first step towards professional licensure.  The U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering provides the following services for students:

  • Referral to faculty mentors and campus resources for career planning
  • Communication regarding internship opportunities
  • Orientation for students applying for admission to the school
  • Assistance with issues related to registration and academic standing
  • Evaluation of academic transcripts and articulation of transfer credits
  • Maintenance of academic advising records and degree audits
  • Certification of graduation
