Getting to know your advisor

I was born and raised in New Jersey, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Business Economics from Cook College at Rutgers University. I made the move to Florida in 2006, and earned a Masters in Education with a focus on College Student Affairs from the University of South Florida. I completed my MBA at FGCU in 2012, and am currently working on my Doctorate in Education at FGCU – I hope to be a double Eagle soon!  My entire professional career has been at FGCU, and I started my journey in the First Year Advising Office, and was also an academic advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences. I was given the opportunity to start the Undergraduate Studies Advising Office for special populations in August 2013, and became Director of Exploratory Advising in July 2018.  One of my favorite ways that I get engaged on campus is reading names at Commencement (FGCU’s graduation ceremony).  I love seeing students who we helped as first-year students cross the stage at graduation!  When I am not on campus I love spending time with my family – my partner, Adam, my brother, Johnny, and our two dogs and four fish tanks!  We love going to sporting events and exploring Florida.

I was born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania where I attended Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor’s of Psychology in 2009, and, later, a Master’s of Education with a focus on Counseling and College Student Affairs in 2014. After completing the Master’s degree, I moved to Florida to serve FGCU as a First Year Advisor, followed by serving as a Mentoring Program Coordinator. During this time, I enrolled in the Doctor of Education program at FGCU and enjoy soaring right alongside the Eagles we serve! In 2018, I began working at Florida Southwestern State College as an Academic Advisor II for several years prior to my return to The Nest as the Assistant Director of Exploratory Advising in 2022. I have had the sincere pleasure of working with so many bright students at FGCU and am invigorated by their energy. My passion is education. I believe in empowering students to be the best versions of themselves and truly believe that anyone can follow their dreams by employing their effort, heart, and soul into all they do. On a more personal note, I enjoy spending time outside in nature, cultivating my many plants at home, and spending time with my little family – Luis (my partner) and our baby (Sheldon – a miniature Dachshund who is very spoiled).  

I grew up and attended school just north of Indianapolis, Indiana, and received my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education, Higher Education/Adult/Community Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. My professional experiences are within student success and advising, students with disabilities, career development, and instruction. I have always enjoyed working one-on-one with students, and working at FGCU is no exception. I have the privilege of working with an incredibly supportive and friendly staff. My goal is to make each student feel welcome and comfortable to help foster personal and academic growth, as well as optimizing their college experience. Outside of work, some of my hobbies include reading various novels (Debbie Macomber is my favorite!), crafting with seashells, exploring new beaches, and spoiling my niece and nephew!

I grew up in Binghamton, New York. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics from the SUNY Oneonta and a Master of Science degree in Student Affairs Administration from Binghamton University. My favorite things about FGCU are how friendly and welcoming the entire FGCU Community is as well as how focused we are in regards to sustainability and environmental preservation. I have a labrador retriever puppy named Coal who loves frisbee, tennis balls and snuggling. Florida’s sun and beaches brought me here but nothing is better than Fall in Upstate New York!

Greetings, my name is Tricia Miller. I am originally from Central Wisconsin and earned my bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in Human Services and my masters in Counseling/Higher Education from Lakeland University.  My husband and I relocated to Southwest Florida and we love it!  We enjoy travel, exploring, and road trips! I have 13+ years of experience in academic advising and have enjoyed every minute! Being an academic advisor is a very rewarding career, it is amazing to watch each student grow personally, professionally and academically. FGCU is a very special college; the students, staff and faculty are always working together to put FGCU on the map!  The college has grown so much and will continue to grow due to the hard work of our students, staff and faculty! I look forward to working with you, to ensure your success here at FGCU! I am a born and raised Florida native and a double Eagle! In 2015, I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and in 2020, graduated again with my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. My favorite thing about FGCU is our small class sizes, our beautiful campus, and our many wonderful events throughout the year – especially Winter Wonderland and the Tunnel of Awareness.  Outside of FGCU, I am an avid animal lover and spend quite a lot of time working with rescues and volunteer organizations to help control feral cat populations through TNVR as well as adopting them into my house where I currently have 10 cats! I also enjoy watching movies with friends, trying new vegetarian recipes, and playing games with my partner.

 

I was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree at the University of Florida in Family, Youth and Community Science and Student Personnel in Higher Education, respectively. Throughout my graduate and professional career, I have worked in academic advising, academic support for students with disabilities, and career services. I love working as an academic advisor because professionals in these roles are able to be an aid to students. These connections not only shape the student’s experiences in college but impact their future as well! FGCU is a special place where students can connect with incredible resources that help them grow and develop, which is what college is all about! In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, visiting friends, traveling, going fishing, and crafting. I look forward to connecting and working with FGCU students!

Hello! I am originally from West Palm Beach, FL but have been living in Fort Myers, FL since 2014. I am a Double Eagle where I gained my Bachelor’s degree in Health Science Administration and my Master's degree in Educational Leadership here at Florida Gulf Coast University. In my final year of grad school, I got to intern with Career Development Services and Exploratory Advising where I found my passion for advising. I love helping students find their perfect academic journey and sometimes that means changing our major four times but that is completely normal! Life is about the journey, not the destination. Some things I like to do outside of work is watching shows and movies, spending time with friends, traveling as much as I can with my partner, and hanging out with our two cats! 

Hello Eagles! I am originally from Moore Haven, FL but have been living in Fort Myers, FL since 2016. I am a Double Eagle where I gained my Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies and my Master's degree in Educational Leadership here at Florida Gulf Coast University. I found my passion for Advising being a mentor for our Step Ahead Program here at Florida Gulf Coast University that is now known as Eagles Advantage. I love helping students on their academic journey to success. Success it what we define ourselves not what others deem success. In my spare time I love to roller skate, sing, dance, play basketball/volleyball, and going to the gym.

I was born and raised outside of Los Angeles, California. In 2020, I moved to Fort Myers from Bolivia, where I had lived for 18 years. I studied Anthropology as an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley and continued with Anthropology and a master’s degree in Development Studies at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés and their Post-Graduate Center for Development Sciences, in La Paz, Bolivia. I love FGCU’s sports teams, beautiful campus and meaningful engagement throughout Southwest Florida. I have a passion for learning and what attracts me to advising is the opportunity to help students find a fulfilling path to success and feel like they belong in university. I also enjoy running, spending time with family and getting to know Florida.  

I moved to Florida in February 2006 from Indiana where I graduated with a double major in Business Administration and Sports Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.  My passion for Higher Education took me to Hodges University (F.t Myers) where I earned my MS in Management.  I love what FGCU stands for and what it offers to its students, employees, and community and am really proud to be a part of an outstanding Exploratory Advising team.  Outside of work, I love sports and try to stay as active as possible running, working out, and playing soccer while spending as much time as possible with my family, kids, and various pets that we have adopted over the years.

Hi! I am originally from the Midwest but love living in Southwest Florida and working at FGCU! I earned all my degrees living in unique places; Kansas, Texas, and the East Coast (Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate in music). I found my passion for helping students through teaching and would love to meet with you to create the best possible plans for success at FGCU! When not advising, playing music or teaching, I’m usually paying attention to my needy pets (cat and dog) and spending time outdoors. 

I’ve lived most of my life here in Southwest Florida. I attended Palmetto Ridge High School and was able to begin college early through Florida Gulf Coast University’s ACE Program. Thanks to FCGU I started college in 2016 at 16, and was fortunate enough to graduate with a B.A. in Sociology in 2020. At FGCU I was able to explore my interest in politics and education through volunteering, internships, mentoring, and working as a course assistant.  After graduating I worked in the Florida House of Representatives before returning to school at the University of Florida to obtain my Masters in Education. I currently teach as an Adjunct Professor for Foundations of Civic Engagement along with working as a Student Success Counselor. I’m passionate about education and giving back to the community as I believe even the smallest bit of good, guidance, or insight a person may give another can manifest into unimaginable greatness. Regarding my interests outside of teaching/advising, I love video games (from RPGs to Overwatch), anime, superhero movies, and comedy shows like Always Sunny. Also, I have an adorable golden-doodle named Blitzen -- he’s a Christmas dog. 

Hi there! A little about me: I have lived in Florida most of my life, but was born in Cuba and came to the States when I was just 5 years old. I earned my B.A. in Sociology at FGCU in May 2022.  While at FGCU as a student, I had the wonderful experience of working as a front desk assistant in the Center for Career and Exploratory Advising. Shortly after graduation, I was able to transition to a full-time role as an Administrative Specialist supporting Exploratory Advising. One of the best parts of my role is helping the students who come into our office and supporting my team. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my friends and family at the beach or staying in and watching a good light-hearted tv show.
