Civic Engagement

We Are Civically engaged

The mission and guiding principles of Florida Gulf Coast University include commitments to campus-community partnerships, co-curricular service, service-learning, civic responsibility, engaged citizenship, and community awareness and involvement. The College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Integrated Studies offer a variety of courses that include service-learning embedded in coursework and student learning goals and educational outcomes.

My vision as an educator is simple: for students to graduate as conscious, productive, and civically engaged citizens who aren’t seekers of degrees but, instead, seekers of meaningful lives deeply invested in the health of their campus and community.
