Transfer Student Orientation

Whether you are transferring from a local state college or another 4-year institution, we are excited you are one of FGCU's newest Eagles. Because you have completed some college already, our Transfer orientation programs are designed with a variety of students in mind.

The Eagle View Orientation staff looks forward to providing you with critical information about completing your degree, answering your questions, and preparing you to be successful at FGCU.

Orientation Dates

Beginning mid-October 2023, students admitted for the Spring 2024 term with a paid admission deposit will receive an email with instructions for orientation registration.

Orientation for Summer 2023

Transfer students admitted for the Summer/Fall 2023 semesters will attend a one-day Eagle View Orientation program between May-July. Registration for these programs will open the second week of February 2023. Please visit our website at that time for further information.

How to Register

Registering for Orientation is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Keep an eye on your email- Admitted students will receive an email with information about next steps, including registering for Orientation.

2. Activate your Eagle Email - This is your official student account that will be used for your FGCU email and more - like registering for Orientation.

3. Enroll in to 2 Factor Authentication (Duo Mobile)- Enrolling in two-factor authentication is mandatory for all students and provides an additional layer of security that guards your personal information in our University systems.

4. Pay your Admissions Deposit in Gulfline - Please note, you must wait 24-48 hours after you have paid your Admissions Deposit to sign in and register for an Orientation program (STEP 5).

5. Log in to The Orientation Registration System and complete your orientation registration!

Cost of Orientation

All Transfer or One-Day sessions cost a flat rate of $35.00 per admitted FGCU student and $15.00 per family member or guest. This fee will cover the costs of the orientation experience including program staffing, materials, and additional services.

Are you a Returning or FGCU Complete Student?

You have two options for completing Eagle View Orientation.

1. You may register, using the above directions, and complete the orientation program along with other incoming students.

2. You may complete our virtual orientation modules at your own pace. Please request this option by emailing us at orientation@fgcu.edu.

Please continue to check your FGCU Eagle Email for more information regarding your virtual or in-person orientation experience. A confirmation email will contain important information about your orientation program.

If you register to attend a virtual orientation program, you will receive all necessary Zoom links 3 - 5 days prior to your scheduled orientation program.

If you register to attend an in-person program, final reminders will be shared one week prior to your scheduled orientation.
Plan to participate in all aspects of the Orientation program

Both virtual and in-person orientation programs take place from 8:30 am - 5 pm (Eastern Standard Time).

In order to complete course registration, you must plan to participate in all aspects of the entire virtual orientation program and meet with your academic advisor.

1) All transfer students will complete an informative, interactive Pre-Orientation virtual module before you attend the orientation date you selected. Access to our Pre-Orientation virtual modules will be provided to you closer to your orientation program.The Pre-Orientation virtual modules are self-paced with a goal of providing important information about starting your first semester at FGCU.

2) On your registered orientation date, you will participate in live virtual or in-person sessions and meetings (depending on the program you selected), including a one-on-one meeting with your academic advisor where you will finalize your course registration. For security purposes, if you selected a virtual orientation program, the Zoom links and passwords will be sent to your Eagle email 3-5 days prior to your orientation program.

3) If you selected a virtual program, please download the Zoom Client for Meetings or the app to your mobile device from the app store or Google Play for the best experience with Zoom.

If you selected an in-person program, you will park in Parking Garage 1 and check-in on the second floor of the Cohen Student Union at 8:30 am on the date of your selected program.

4) The sessions and meetings that will make up your live orientation session are important to your success and start at FGCU. Make plans now to ensure you are able to fully participate in the orientation program. Please plan to dedicate the time required for the orientation program to concentrate solely on the sessions and meetings you are a part of. Students should not attempt to participate in the virtual program while at work, in class, driving, or otherwise distracted.

If possible, students who selected a virtual program are also highly encouraged to participate in our program on either a computer, laptop, or a tablet as these options provide a better opportunity to fully engage in the program. There will also be times during the program, where you might have to open a document.
Submit your Immunization Records

You will NOT be able to register for classes if your immunization records have not been received and processed by Student Health Services. Please log into your Student Health Portal to verify your current immunization status. You may be compliant due to Florida Shot records being uploaded automatically into the system. For questions and more information, visit the immunization website. Please keep in mind that it can take up to 72 business hours for Student Health Services to process your records and remove the hold on your account.

To check your holds, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to Gulfline

2. Click on Student and Financial Aid

3. Click on Student Records

4. Click “View Holds” – If you do not seen an Immunization Hold, then the hold has been removed.
Declare your Residency

Your state of residence determines the cost of your tuition. For this reason, all applications must declare their residency status. All students must declare their residency status with the Office of Admissions to ensure you are charged correctly. This involves you or your guardian completing the online residency form and providing required documentation.

The types of documentation you or your guardian may be asked to provide includes, but is not limited to, a Florida driver's license number, voter's registration card number, vehicle registration number, identification card number, and/or other acceptable documents.

Submit your Photo for your Eagle ID

The steps to upload and obtain your Eagle ID are as follows:
- - - Log into the FGCU eAccounts with your Eagle Email and Eagle Email Password
      
      NOTE: You can upload your new ID photo within the eAccounts app. Download from the Apple Store or Google Play Store searching for ‘Transact eAccounts.’ Set Florida Gulf Coast University as the school page and log in with FGCU Single Sign On
    - Click on Profile and then select "Click to Submit a New Photo"
      
      NOTE: If using eAccounts app, click on the Settings icon to go to ‘Manage Account’ and then click on ‘Submit ID Photo’
    - Read and complete all photo submission requirements. A form of government-issued identification is also required, such as a driver's license or passport.
    - Wait for an approval email to confirm your photo was accepted
    - Pick up your Eagle ID from the Eagle ID Office located in the Enrollment Services Center, McTarnaghan Hall 1st Floor

What you need on orientation day

Students will need to have the following things during their orientation program:
- Your UIN (University Identification Number) -a nine digit number starting with 81. Your UIN was provided to you in the email entitled "ACTION REQUIRED: FGCU Account Activation."
- A pen or something to write with
- Something to take notes on such as a notebook or paper
- Your Eagle Email address and password
