Transfer Student Orientation

Whether you are transferring from a local state college or another 4-year institution, we are excited you are one of FGCU's newest Eagles. Because you have completed some college already, our Transfer orientation programs are designed with a variety of students in mind.

The Eagle View Orientation staff looks forward to providing you with critical information about completing your degree, answering your questions, and preparing you to be successful at FGCU.

Upcoming Orientation Programs

Transfer students admitted for the Summer or Fall 2024 semester will attend a one-day Eagle View Orientation program between May and August 2024.

Transfer students admitted for the Spring 2025 semester will attend a one-day Eagle View Orientation program in December 2024. Registration for these programs will open in October 2024. Please check our website at that time for additional information.

How to Register

Registering for Orientation is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Keep an eye on your email- Admitted students will receive an email with information about next steps.

2. Activate your Eagle Email - This is your official student account that will be used for your FGCU email and more.

3. Enroll in to 2 Factor Authentication (Duo Mobile)- Enrolling in two-factor authentication is mandatory for all students and provides an additional layer of security that guards your personal information in our University systems.

4. In order to accept your offer of admission, you must log into your Future Eagle Account and answer your Decision Reply question. On the Home tab of your Future Eagle Account, look at the right-hand column under "Forms."

After accepting your offer of admission, you will be able to submit your $200 non-refundable deposit. To submit your Admission Deposit, go to your Home tab on your Future Eagle Account. From there, look for "Payment Due" and select Submit Payment for $200.00 USD. Once you submit your deposit, we will hold a seat for you and you will move forward in the new student process. The deposit deadline for Fall is May 1st, however, we may accept deposits after the deadline until the term is full.

The admission deposit is applicable to the term for which the student has been admitted and is non-refundable. The deposit will be forfeited if the student does not enroll in the deposited term. If a request to change terms is made after classes for the original term of admission have begun, a deposit for the new term must be paid.

5. Once your admission deposit has been processed, you will receive an email from orientation@fgcu.edu to complete your orientation registration.

Cost of Orientation

All Transfer or One-Day sessions cost a flat rate of $35.00 per admitted FGCU student and $35.00 per family member or guest. This fee will cover the costs of the orientation experience including program staffing, materials, and additional services. Lunch and additional refreshments will also be provided as part of the program.

Orientation Dates

All incoming students are required to attend an in-person orientation program. Registration for these dates are based on a first-come-first-served basis.

Are you a Returning, Distance Learning, or FGCU Complete Student?

You have two options for completing Eagle View Orientation.

1. You may register, using the above directions, and complete the orientation program along with other incoming students.

2. You may complete our virtual orientation modules at your own pace. Please request this option by emailing us at orientation@fgcu.edu.

*These options are only available for Return to the Nest, Distance Learning, or FGCU Complete students. Return to the Nest Students focuses on students who attended FGCU at one time, but did not earn a degree. This initiative provides personalized navigation and financial assistance for students to return to FGCU and graduate!. Distance Learning Students are students that are able to take their upper division courses fully online. This is only offered to students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Health Sciences, or Legal Studies. FGCU Complete is an innovative degree-completion program, that offers students who have previously earned college credits the opportunity to work toward a bachelor’s degree. Students are full-fledged Eagles who fulfill degree requirements by taking a combination of on-campus, in-community, and online classes, depending on their program.

Please continue to check your FGCU Eagle Email for more information regarding orientation experience. Communication from your academic advisor, other campus departments, and a confirmation email about your orientation will be sent to your FGCU E-mail account.

Final reminders, including a program agenda, will be shared one week prior to your scheduled orientation.
Plan to Participate in All Aspects of Orientation

Your Orientation will consist of three parts:

1) You will complete an informative, interactive pre-orientation virtual module before you attend your in-person orientation program on the date you selected. You may access the virtual modules at evo.fgcu.edu by signing in with your FGCU email and password. The Pre-Orientation modules are self-paced and include a quiz at the end of each session, so it is recommended that you read and/or listen to the material thoroughly and take notes. The modules include important information for beginning your first semester at FGCU.

2) Beginning in April and forward, academic advisors from University Advising Services will contact you via your Eagle Email account to arrange your orientation advising appointment and course registration.

3) On your registered orientation date, you will park in Parking Garage 1 and check in on the second floor of the Cohen Student Union. Check-in will begin at 8:45 am EST. Please plan to be on campus until 5:00 pm on the date of your scheduled orientation. A final reminder, including a copy of the program agenda, will be e-mailed to you one week prior to your scheduled orientation date.

Timely completion of each part of your orientation process is important to keeping you on track, ensuring no missed steps, and ensuring a smooth transition to FGCU. Please note that your academic advising appointment must be completed prior to your in-person orientation program, and failure to attend the in-person orientation program will result in cancellation of your course registration.
Submit Your Immunization Records

You will NOT be able to register for classes if your immunization records have not been received and processed by Student Health Services. Please log into your Student Health Portal to verify your current immunization status. You may be compliant due to Florida Shot records being uploaded automatically into the system. For questions and more information, visit the immunization website. Please keep in mind that it can take up to 72 business hours for Student Health Services to process your records and remove the hold on your account.

To check your holds, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to Gulfline

2. Click on Student and Financial Aid

3. Click on Student Records

4. Click “View Holds” – If you do not seen an Immunization Hold, then the hold has been removed.
Declare Your Residency

Your state of residence determines the cost of your tuition. For this reason, all applications must declare their residency status. All students must declare their residency status with the Office of Admissions to ensure you are charged correctly. This involves you or your guardian completing the online residency form and providing required documentation.

The types of documentation you or your guardian may be asked to provide includes, but is not limited to, a Florida driver's license number, voter's registration card number, vehicle registration number, identification card number, and/or other acceptable documents.

Submit Your Photo for Your Eagle ID

The steps to upload and obtain your Eagle ID are as follows:
- - - Log into the FGCU eAccounts with your Eagle Email and Eagle Email Password
      
      NOTE: You can upload your new ID photo within the eAccounts app. Download from the Apple Store or Google Play Store searching for ‘Transact eAccounts.’ Set Florida Gulf Coast University as the school page and log in with FGCU Single Sign On
    - Click on Profile and then select "Click to Submit a New Photo"
      
      NOTE: If using eAccounts app, click on the Settings icon to go to ‘Manage Account’ and then click on ‘Submit ID Photo’
    - Read and complete all photo submission requirements. A form of government-issued identification is also required, such as a driver's license or passport.
    - Wait for an approval email to confirm your photo was accepted
    - Pick up your Eagle ID from the Eagle ID Office located in the Enrollment Services Center, McTarnaghan Hall 1st Floor

Students will need to have the following during their orientation program:
- Your UIN (University Identification Number) -a nine digit number starting with 81.
- A pen or something to write with
- A jacket for cold rooms and an umbrella in case of rain
- Your Eagle Email address and password
