Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) opened its doors to students on August 25, 1997 and was the tenth state university in the Florida State University System. Twenty-five years after opening its doors, FGCU has grown to become not only the region’s largest post-secondary education presence, but also serve as a catalyst for economic development in Southwest Florida.
