The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education is a research-practice partnership based in the Harvard Graduate School of Education. COACHE studies the work lives of faculty with a focus on actionable data to support academic administrators. Studies are conducted in partnership with college and university leaders (both faculty and administrative) with an emphasis on using the data collected to improve the academic workplace. The survey is administered to all full-time faculty (excluding administrative faculty in the role of Assistant Dean or above).

The data is collected by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After collection, Harvard removes names and email addresses from the data and sends it to FGCU’s Office of Planning and Institutional Performance. Confidentiality and anonymity are assured in all COACHE analyses and reports. When COACHE submits the survey report to FGCU, only the aggregate data is shown in the report. No identifiers are matched to reported responses, and no disaggregated data will be presented for any subgroup with fewer than five respondents. A representative from the Office of Planning and Institutional Performance has also signed a statement affirming that they will not share results where there are fewer than five respondents in a subgroup.

The data will be shared with FGCU faculty and academic leadership to support evidence-based decision making across the university. A team of faculty will be charged with evaluating findings, disseminating results, and prioritizing initiatives.

Results are delivered in two formats. A summary PDF report looks at high level results and global questions, and a full digital report that disaggregates results by race, gender, rank, and discipline. Results will be shared on the FGCU-COACHE website and presented to faculty at various meetings, including the Academic Leadership Team meeting and Faculty Senate.
