The Kleist Health Education Center, in conjunction with Florida Gulf Coast University’s Marieb College of Health & Human Services, strives to promote wellness, quality life style choices, and healthy environments through excellence in education, research, service, and community partnerships.

Mission

The Kleist Health Education Center is an educational, not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting healthy lifestyles. Our mission is to cultivate life-long habits that empower individuals to make healthier lifestyle choices and reduce destructive decision making. Through the use of our dynamic interactive health education programs, children and adults within Southwest Florida will begin a lifetime journey of healthy living.

The Kleist Health Education Center (KHEC) is a thriving presence in our Southwest Florida community, bringing new programs and educational opportunities to local teachers, students and senior organizations. Come grow with us with your tax-deductible donation to a quality, nonprofit, health education center.

The center is constantly expanding to take on new challenges and to bring new opportunities to our public schools, teachers and students. But as we grow, we recognize that there is much more work to be done. Investing in the Kleist Health Education Center is an investment in our future...our children.

GIVING FORM

In recent years, the high price of transportation coupled with educational budget cuts has made it difficult for students to attend beneficial health education programs at the Kleist Health Education Center. This especially affects schools that are further away from the center. Through the Sponsor a Bus program, donors have made it possible for more children to participate in our programming. With a donation of $300 or more, an individual or organization can sponsor a bus for a school or class of their choice. If you do not have a school preference, we can assist you in identifying schools with the most needs. Call 239-590-7459 for more information.

• School Day Volunteers: Weekdays during the school year, usually between 9:30-a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one day per month. 
• FGCU Student Volunteers: Students can earn required service-learning hours by volunteering. Call us or inquire through Service-Learning & Civic Engagement.
• Special Events: Volunteers help staff at special events such as health fairs, summer camps, fundraising events and FGCU campus events. Duties may include: overseeing a registration, information, or refreshment table.

This program is for undergraduate students interested in health education, health promotion or community health. Activities may include observing and participating in teaching sessions where we promote quality health.
