Antonio, Lorie
Lorie Antonio joined LCOB in February 2016 as an Academic Advisor.
She joined Florida Gulf Coast University in 2004. Through the College of Health Professions, she served the Center for Positive Aging for three years as a Rehabilitation Specialist and Research Assistant in the area of Recreational Therapy. In 2007, she joined the FGCU Center for Academic Achievement where she assisted with student retention efforts as well as aided the Eagle's Wing Mentoring program and Reading Connections course. In 2008 she rejoined the College of Health Professions & Social Work where she served as an Academic Advisor for eight years.
Prior to her arrival at FGCU, Lorie has held several positions as a Recreational Therapist in long term care facilities and specialized in providing therapeutic interventions for older adults with memory loss. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport and is certified in the field of Recreational Therapy through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Lorie is also a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Lorie is currently pursuing her M.A. in Educational Leadership at FGCU.
