I am passionate about redressing structural problems that confront underserved communities at the local and global levels. This passion is reflected in all aspects of my academic and career endeavors. While recognizing the importance of local issues, I place this understanding within a global interdisciplinary context. The diversity and interconnectedness of the world demand a deliberately multi-pronged approach to grappling with the problems around us. In addition to having worked on a number of grant-funded projects, I have been instrumental in the establishment and development of a number of community-based centers that attempt to create more sustainable communities in the Southwest Florida area and beyond, including the African Caribbean American Center (AFCAAM), The Community Action Council, and the Community Ambassadors for Today and Tomorrow (CATT).
