Dr. Danvers Johnston joined FGCU as an Assistant Professor of Renewable Energy Engineering in August 2014. Previously, he was a research scientist in the Deng Droplet & Energy Science Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering of the University of Central Florida.

From 2009-2012, he was a postdoctoral associate in the Center for Functional Nanomaterials of Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island, NY. Dr. Johnston earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 and B.Sc. in Physics from Tel Aviv University in 2002. Dr. Johnston is currently a member of the Materials Research Society and the American Physical Society. His research interests and expertise include electronic nanomaterials and device physics, low-cost thin-film solar cells and scalable nano-manufacturing. Dr. Johnston’s research appears in scientific journals of publishers such as the American Chemical Society, SPIE and Nature Publishing Group.
