Huerta, Daniel (Ph.D.)
Dr. Daniel Huerta joined FGCU in 2019. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics & Finance and as a Research Fellow for the Lucas Institute for Real Estate Development & Finance. Prior to joining FGCU, Dr. Huerta served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Director for the Student Managed Investment Fund at the College of Charleston.
Dr. Huerta received his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering in Venezuela in 2004 and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley (formerly UT – Pan American) in 2013. He teaches in the areas of Corporate Finance and Financial Management. His research focuses on REITs from corporate and investments perspectives. Dr. Huerta has published more than 20 peer-reviewed academic articles in relevant journals such as the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, Applied Economics, Managerial Finance, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Journal of Housing Research. He is a member of the Financial Management Association, the American Real Estate Society, and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Real Estate Literature.
