Toggle Research and Teaching InterestsDr. Petry's scholarly expertise is in the area of corporate leadership communication
– specifically those communication behaviors that transfer an executive's strategic
vision throughout the ranks of large, complex organizations during times of significant,
organizational change. As a scholar who primarily conducts research using quantitative
methodologies, her aim has been to uncover and measure the precise leadership processes
required to prompt organizational stakeholders to internalize and work in concert
toward a common end. She enjoys teaching future public relations professionals who
will be responsible for managing their organizations' corporate communication strategy.

Prior to transitioning into academia, Dr. Petry managed the corporate communication
for the largest, business-to-business media company in the U.S. Upon beginning her
doctoral work, she served as a graduate teaching assistant at Wayne State instructing
courses in organizational communication, public speaking, business communication,
and research methods. While collecting her dissertation research, Dr. Petry served
as a part-time instructor at the University of Tampa, where she taught courses in
public relations, organizational communication, and communication ethics.
