Shepherd, Amy (BS)
Amy received a BS in Education with a concentration in Psychology from Kutztown University in 1992. She was hired as a teacher in Toms River, NJ working in the district where she grew up and attended school. Amy has 29 years of teaching experience as a Kindergarten and Second Grade teacher. She started her career as a Full Day Kindergarten teacher at South Toms River Elementary School. She taught there for 14 years before transferring to a Second Grade Teacher at Walnut Street Elementary School for 15 years. Amy has worked with disabled students and ESL students at both schools. She has served on multiple committees during her career including the District Report Card Committee, Science Curriculum Committee and ELA Committee. Amy is Sheltered English Instruction State of NJ Trained and was a District Trainer and Facilitator of Staff Professional Development, which was responsible for coaching staff on how to differentiate instruction and tests for students. She retired from teaching in 2021 to move to Estero to be closer to her parents who live in Fort Myers. In August of 2023, she started working at FGCU as a Test Proctor. She lives with her husband and son who is a Junior at FGCU. In her free time, Amy enjoys walks on the beach, reading, tennis and pickle ball. Amy is excited to continue to be a part of the Adaptive Services Team in her new position as an Adaptive Services Coordinator.
