Community Outreach

The mission of the Office of Community Outreach is to foster strong university-community partnerships that increase the visibility, accountability, and participation of the university in the surrounding Southwest Florida community, assist with the recruitment and retention efforts of the university, and create a cohesive support system for students from traditionally underserved or underrepresented backgrounds. In keeping with this mission, our lecture series, features community leaders from Southwest Florida.

Community Day is an annual event featuring representatives from Southwest Florida organizations.  Our community partners and supporters are invited to gather, network and learn about services FGCU can offer. Community Day will take place on the FGCU campus this year on September 16, 2021 from 9:00am to 2:30pm at SoVi Dining.

The Eagle Edge program supports student success

The Office of Community Outreach is committed to assisting and retaining students who are the first in their families to attend college, who face financial difficulties or other challenges as they strive to continue their education, or who are members of communities underrepresented at FGCU.

Our Eagle Edge program welcomes and guides promising students referred through partner organizations around Southwest Florida:

Eagle Edge empowers these students with information about academic programs, financial aid and other programs that can help them navigate the world of higher education, complete their degree and succeed after graduation. Through regular group meetings, specialized workshops and one-on-one mentoring, Eagle Edge participants learn essential techniques and strategies in areas such as these:
