An Immersive Learning Experience
From the first introductory course in education, teacher candidates are immersed in local school settings. The coursework and field experiences are integrated to ensure deeper, more meaningful learning. There are three independent field experiences in the College of Education. During the introductory course, EDF 2005, pre-arranged field trips provide students with their first experience in the schools. Then, teacher candidates in both Blocks 1 and 2 are placed at a school site for one day a week for eight consecutive weeks. Assignment and observation protocols are provided as a guide to this authentic learning experience.
