Together, FGCU and Florida SouthWestern State College want to help make your academic goals a reality.

Students from the 5-county area (Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, or Lee county) who apply to Florida Gulf Coast University as a freshman, and do not meet freshman admission requirements, may be invited to participate in the Florida SouthWestern State College/FGCU Qualifying program. Eligible students will receive a special admissions letter explaining the process to participate in this program.

Early planning and being prepared are essential to making the Florida SouthWestern State College/FGCU Qualifying Program work its best for you. An AA Degree at Florida SouthWestern State College = Guaranteed Admission at Florida Gulf Coast University to get a Bachelor's Degree. Florida's higher education system is designed to allow students to successfully pursue a bachelor's degree by first attending a community/state college and then transferring to a 4-year state university system institution. The state of Florida guarantees that students who complete an AA degree at a community/state college have the opportunity to enroll in and earn a bachelor's degree at a state university.

The FGCU Admissions Counselor can help to make sure you choose and complete the correct pre-requisite classes to make a successful transfer, and provide overall guidance as you prepare to transfer to Florida Gulf Coast University.

Destination FGCU

Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) and Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) have teamed up to offer FSW students a seamless transfer to FGCU to earn their bachelor’s degree.

At FGCU, learning is not a spectator sport.

There’s no sitting on the sideline here. Students take active roles in their education, working collaboratively with faculty members and classmates. Student success – academic, personal and professional – is the top priority.
FGCU’s smaller classes are designed to allow for more individualized attention and mentoring by faculty. The campus, considered among the safest in the country, offers an exceptional quality of life, with pristine beaches, loads of clubs, organizations, activities and NCAA Division I athletics.

FSW and FGCU participate in federal and state financial aid programs. In addition to grants, loans and work study, both institutions provide millions of dollars in scholarship awards. For example, FGCU provides some $2.7 million in FGCU Foundation Scholarships annually to include Eagle Transfer Gold Scholarships for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher who complete an AA degree from FSW or another Florida College.
